Overview
The Nine of Swords shows a person sitting upright in bed, head in hands, with nine swords arrayed on the wall behind. The bed cover is decorated with roses and zodiac figures. The figure has been woken by nightmares โ the card is one of anxiety, sleeplessness, and the suffering that emerges in the dark hours. The Nine of Swords often appears when what haunts you is not the situation itself but your mind's interpretation of it. The fears may be real but they are amplified by mental amplification. The card asks you to question the catastrophizing mind and to find grounding.
