Overview
The Eight of Swords shows a blindfolded and bound woman standing in a marsh surrounded by eight swords. Despite the binding and blindfold, the wraps are loose โ she could walk away if she calmed her fear and verified the situation. A castle rises on a hill in the distance. The Eight of Swords represents mental prison โ the trap that exists primarily in the mind. The card often appears when you are stuck in a situation that seems impossible but contains escape routes that fear has hidden. The Eight of Swords asks you to question the assumptions you have not examined. Often the binding is self-imposed.
