Overview
The Wheel of Fortune depicts a great wheel inscribed with the four letters of the Tetragrammaton (YHVH) and the alchemical symbols for mercury, sulphur, salt, and aqua vitae. On the wheel sit a sphinx representing wisdom, a snake of Typhon descending as the destructive force, and Anubis ascending as the redemptive force. At the corners of the card sit the four fixed signs of the zodiac โ the bull, lion, eagle, and angel โ reading from books, suggesting the lens through which divine destiny is contemplated. The Wheel of Fortune is the card of cycles, fate, and the turning points that come whether or not you are prepared. When this card appears, the universe is shifting the ground beneath your feet. What seemed fixed is moving; what seemed lost returns in different form. Your job is not to control the wheel but to read its direction and align with its rotation.
